Safe Kids Grand Forks is a Great Program!

Celebrating Banner_1
Safe Kids Grand Forks is a region-wide coalition whose mission is to prevent unintentional injuries and death to children and youth 19 years of age and younger. Safe Kids has built a vast coalition of health care providers, government and community agencies, schools, churches, businesses and individuals that work together in a collaborative nature to keep the children of our region safe from their number one cause of death - unintentional injury. Our efforts are multi-faceted and comprehensive in order to maximize the number of children and families we reach with our injury prevention message and to assure that they are effective. We base the development and implementation of programs on the five E's of injury prevention - education, encouragement, engineering, enforcement, and evaluation. The Problem: Accidental/Unintentional childhood injury Unintentional injuries are the number one cause of death among children ages 19 and under in the United States. Each year one out of every four children needs medical attention for an accidental injury. In addition, most of these unintentional injuries and deaths are preventable. The Solution: Safe Kids Safe Kids Grand Forks is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing accidental injury. The majority of accidental injuries can be prevented and since being founded in 1988, there has been a 55% decrease in unintentional injury rates among children 19 and under. Safe Kids Grand Forks is one of over 600 state and local coalitions and chapters in the United States and in over 20 other countries of the world that bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families against unintentional injuries. Safe Kids Grand Forks brings together the expertise of individuals in our community who are dedicated to reducing childhood injuries. Safe Kids Grand Forks Coalition members include, but are not limited to: EMS, law enforcement, fire departments, service groups, childcare providers, school personnel, government agencies, city personnel, parents, University of North Dakota staff, and Altru Health System staff. Angel Wheels Program

In December 2022 CVIC partnered with Rydell of Grand Forks for its Angels on Wheels program to gift 12 vehicles to CVIC clients whose lives have been impacted by interpersonal violence. CVIC selected clients who had a lack of reliable transportation, effecting their ability to achieve independence and a sense of normalcy. CVIC selected clients based on their transportation, economic situation and family needs. Each client was gifted a vehicle valued at roughly $10,000 each, and carefully selected the vehicles based on each client’s family and personal transportation needs. Rydell also donated a gift card worth $500 to each recipient for future automotive service needs. CVIC is proud to partner with Rydell and Safe Kids of Grand Forks for this amazing program, and grateful for the impact this will have on our client’s lives. Message to our Guests, Team Members and Friends

To all of our guests, team members and friends: Like many of you reading this, we have spent the last several days and weeks learning more about the coronavirus (a.k.a. COVID-19) and how it is impacting humanity. We want to reassure you that nothing is more important than the health, safety and well-being of our guests, our team members and our communities. We are closely monitoring the situation and are in contact with state and local government and health officials to continue to assess the situation. Rydell is also monitoring Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidance for responding to Coronavirus. The evolving nature of this event requires us to be flexible in how we respond and provide service to you, our guests. Here are some of the ways we are taking action: Additional hand sanitization stations have been added in high trafficked locations Increased frequency of disinfection and cleaning of public restrooms and high-touch indoor areas, such as bathrooms, door handles, tables, food and beverage areas, cashier counters, communal computer workstations and guest lounges Employees who appear symptomatic have been asked to stay home We take the safety of our guests and employees very seriously and we want you to know that each of our Rydell locations are places you can visit, with the peace of mind of knowing that we have taken every effort to ensure you are in a sanitary and safe environment. We cannot stress enough that we are very committed to making sure we do our part to help keep our guests, team members and communities safe during these uncertain times. We also understand that some of you may not be able to come into our facilities at this time. In that case, we do have another option in which to help serve you. Our Rydell Delivers Program will allow you to conduct research, test drive and even purchase a new or pre-owned vehicle from the comfort of your own home or place of work. We want to make it as simple as possible to shop for or service your current or future vehicle(s). Thank you for taking the time to read this important message. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us at (701) 772-7211. Thank you, Your friends at Rydell.

Giving Hearts Day 2020

Founded in 2008, Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour event for charities in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. Each year, Giving Hearts Day provides a platform for charities to fund their missions through an ever-increasing community of donors, many of whom get to experience the joy of giving for the first time. The longest-running giving day in the country, Giving Hearts Day has helped participating charities raise more than $70 million since its founding. Giving Hearts Day is hosted by: Dakota Medical Foundation Foundation Impact Institute Alex Stern Family Foundation Our Charity of choice this year was, The Grand Forks Foundation Education and Alumni Network. Their main focus this year was the #SecureASeat program. Mission The Grand Forks Foundation for Education is excited to announce our "Secure A Seat" campaign. Help us ensure ALL students have a seat on the bus, a seat at the lunch table and a seat in the classroom! Our Story We know that education is a key factor in breaking the poverty cycle. We have wonderful educators, and we need to ensure ALL students have a seat in their classrooms. Changing lives means creating an opportunity for young people to access education that will move them from their current situation to a situation that they can dream and believe is possible. We cannot do this unless they are in school. Our young people will not disappoint us if we invest and believe in their capacity to live their lives to the fullest potential. Help us raise funds to help us ensure a seat on the bus, a seat at the lunch table and a seat in the classroom!! #SecureASeat Service Area Grand Forks, North Dakota Focus Area *Basic Needs *Education *Youth To Contribute here are the links below: Giving Hearts Day Secure A Seat
